From 2019 to present date, Barry has served as Mayor of Irmo, SC.

From 2019 to 2022, Barry served as the President of the Lexington County Municipal Association.

From 2000 to 2015, Barry was the owner and proprietor of MAC’s on MAIN restaurant.

In April 2004, Barry was first elected to IRMO Town Council.

He has served on the Oliver Gospel Board of Directors.

He has served on the Harbison Community Association Election Board.

He is a Member of the Virginia Wingard Memorial United Methodist Church

He is a advisory member on the Board of Directors for the COMET bus system.
